2011 Guidelines for Photographers
Focus Philadelphia is a juried photographic exhibition that is open to any member in good standing of ASMP/Philadelphia. There is no submission fee for participating. Subject matter, style and location are completely open. We are accepting online submissions only this year.
How to Prepare your Entry
Participants may submit up to 10 images with these specifications:
- Size and Format: JPEG, sRGB, 1024 pixels longest side, each file should be no larger than 2MB.
- Copyright: Copyright 2010 Your Name (don’t use the © symbol)
- Author or Creator: Your Name
- Caption: leave blank
- Contact information: phone number and email address
- Name the Files: Rename and number your images in the following manner. Assign a unique four letter prefix of your choice followed by an underscore and a number: Examples: GGFY_01, GGFY_02, GGFY_03, apwx_01, apwx_02, apwx_03, etc. Do not use ASMP as your four letters.
- DO NOT include any watermarks as they will immediately disqualify your entry.
- To Sharpen or Not to Sharpen: Our web program automatically sharpens. Your image may look over-sharpened on the ASMP website. You can submit your images sharpened or unsharpened. The decision is yours.
How to Submit – Deadline is October 11th, 2010
Submission is by FTP only
- Send an email to asmpfocus2011@gmail.com to request FTP information.
- Send a separate email including your name and phone number, the four letter code you’ve used and the total number of images sent to asmpfocus2011@gmail.com.You must also copy and paste these terms of agreement into the body of the email: I certify that I am a current member of ASMP Philadelphia Chapter. I understand that Focus / ASMP is not liable in any way for any damage to my Final Exhibition Framed Submissions. I have read the submission form and agree to all the terms, conditions and requirements stated. I hereby grant to ASMP Philadelphia the following rights if any of my images are selected for exhibition in Focus Philadelphia 2011: 1) the right to exhibit the image(s) in any venue selected by the board of ASMP Philadelphia until January 31, 2013 (the “Focus Philadelphia 2011 Exhibitions”); 2) the right to reproduce and/or distribute the image(s) for the purpose of publicizing or promoting Focus Philadelphia 2011 and/or future Focus Philadelphia competitions; and 3) the right to donate the framed image(s) to charity if I or my agent have not picked it(them) up on or before a date specified after the conclusion of the Focus Philadelphia 2009 Exhibitions. I understand that I retain all other rights to my images.

After Judging is Complete
- Participants will be notified as to which images have been selected for exhibition. Participants will then have approximately one month to make prints for framing. ASMP supplies framing to participants at a discounted group cost.
- Winning participants will later be asked to submit high-res digital files for use in promoting the event and for ASMP Philly.
Participants of Focus: Philadelphia have been both assigned commercial work and sold prints specifically because of this event. Don’t be left out — show what ASMP/Philadelphia photographers can do!
